Adding a Minor

A minor is a secondary concentration of courses in another area of study. A minor usually consists of 4.0 credits. BIT students are permitted to add any minor to their degree except for Computer Science. IRM students have a minor program requirement incorporated into their program which is mandatory for graduation.

For advising on minor requirements, please contact the Department offering the minor you're interested. A Departmental Advisor list can be found via the Academic Advising Centre. Course requirements in the minor can be found in the Undergraduate Calendar.

Please note that adding a minor may cause scheduling issues and delay your graduation as you must finish all requirements of your major and minor. Double counting credits is unlimited when used to satisfy both the requirements for the major and the minor.

If you would like to add or drop a minor, you can do so through the Change of Program Elements (COPE) in Carleton Central.
